Excerpt from Sept 2025 guidance for indoor air quality professionals PDF by Health Canada. I've highlighted the phrase In addition to (followed by advice to recommend respirator masks)

Ventilation can help reduce viral transmission in indoor spaces by preventing the accumulation of potentially infectious respiratory particles in the air. Good ventilation, combined with other personal protective measures, can further reduce the risk of infection.
In addition to improving indoor ventilation, the following should be considered (PHAC 2021a, 2022,
2023a, 2023b, 2023c):
• Encourage occupants to stay home and away from others if they are not feeling well.
• Limit the amount of people in areas where ventilation is poor.
• Have policies that require or strongly recommend people to wear a well-fitting N-95 or KN-95
respirator mask in indoor public settings.
• Provide supplies for people to clean their hands often (e.g., soap and water, or alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol). Remind occupants to clean their hands after contact with shared surfaces and objects, and after coughing or sneezing.
• Regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and objects.
› Develop and put into effect routine cleaning and disinfecting protocols that focus on shared surfaces, objects, and equipment.
› Use disinfectant products with a valid drug identification number and follow manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and disinfection.

Health Canada has released new guidelines for air quality professionals that clearly state Covid can linger in the air & respirator masks should be considered IN ADDITION to improving ventilation

Apple Cake. Recipe emailed to me in 2000. My Mom thinks I use olive oil for everything. Also Tarte Tatin but I have the yips as last time it didn’t turn out great.

Knitting baby blanket. Yet to make it past row 14 without having to frog. Contemplating buying a blanket and passing it off as my own handiwork. About to start row 2 of current attempt. And I’ve knit this pattern before!

There has to be joy. Today’s joy was a visit to the National Gallery of Canada. First saw this artist’s work in 2006 and I still think about that exhibit. Saw this today and took the pic before I knew who the artist was. Can’t explain but when I saw it was Brian Jungen I was like - well obviously.

As a historian, I can certify that we are in the bad times. But bad times eventually end.
In the meantime:
• Figure out a small way to help someone
• Figure out a small way to fight back
• Figure out a small place to find joy
• Figure out a small way to grow and thrive

And do it often.

it costs $0 to be kind, to compliment someone, to help someone. if you can do something nice for someone you can just go ahead and do it. you’ll both be better for it.

Omg yes. This summer, taking my cousin and Mom to dinner. Options were $7 in coin (I mean c’mon!) or joining their stupid parking app in Winnipeg - a city I don’t live in. Best part was gifting coin I did have to next people struggling. Also my Mom does not have a cell phone, what were her options?

If you are not wearing a respirator mask in all situations of potential contagion during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19, you are on the wrong side of everything that truly matters.

My naive wish is that even one Canadian journalist, one politician, one security analyst, would address the implications of Canada choosing military integration with an authoritarian power that no longer respects the rule of law or international law.
Looks like that’s not going to happen today.

This is your regular reminder that Covid is airborne.

It’s not over. It’s still killing and disabling people.

It’s a novel virus and we still don’t know the full long term effects, but what we do know is not encouraging.

Wear a mask. Clean the air. Stay home when sick.

Protect one another.
