Somewhat numerate on a good day. Unpaid carer. Covid cautious, it’s not over. We only have one planet, our only home. Tweets all IMO. No evidence provided - sometimes you have to rely on gut feel. In UK. No DMs

Goldman Sachs asks in biotech research report: 'Is curing patients a sustainable business model?' Goldman Sachs warns sales from the most successful disease treatments are difficult to maintain.

Goldman Sachs analysts : The money men saying the quiet part out loud

Curing patients may not be a sufficiently profitable enterprise for biotech companies.

Chronic disease is a far more beneficial business model

Leaf blowers. What is that all about? Kicking the can (or leaf) down the road for instant gratification? News flash: they keep coming back, folks, unless you do the job properly.

There’s a scene in Round the World In 80 Days where Phileas Fogg is on a boat and is told that they have to turn back because of lack of fuel. So he buys the boat and gets it dismantled so they can throw the wood into engine room to keep moving forward.

This js a metaphor for everything right now.

"The deathbed for far too many is a source of misery, torture and degradation. A reign of blood and vomit and tears. I see no compassion and beauty in that. only profound human suffering."

He makes a very good point. When you see people dying in TV dramas they usually look well nourished and slip away gently. That's how most people imagine death will be. The true horror of many deaths is rarely talked about and never seen in drama.

I can promise you, when you are going through this with a family member, eroding family assets is the last thing on your mind. What is on your mind is their suffering and the lack of medical help. Especially when they have signed a DNA.

Absolutely awful. Unless you have seen something like this first hand happening to a close relative you cannot vote against the bill.

OK we're off. The Speaker has *not* selected a wrecking amendment, which would have effectively killed the debate. Good. This matter can be rejected or accepted it shouldn't be denied.

To all those MPs voting against the assisted dying bill, have you actually witnessed a relative going through a lingering death? I agree that there needs to be more research and the bill is being rushed through too quickly but this subject cannot be hidden away.

I Long for an Internet where it would be possible to talk in a totally nuanced way about things. Where you could say I am broadly on your side about this, but I also think about this, without people thinking you are the other side. I long for sideless conversations. Conversations as spherical as the world we live in.

One man is on a mission to get schools to take COVID more seriously. Is anybody listening? A free online course aims to bust COVID misinformation and teach people how to stop the virus spreading in schools. But perhaps its greatest challenge is engaging people in the first place — particula...

I experienced bitter failure recently but here are some words that help:

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
