I’ve finally finished “Ulysses”, thus conquering my latest Literary White Whale. 😅

I haven’t decided what to read next, but it’s definitely going to be a “fluff read”, and I have a bunch of them in my TBR bookcase, just random Bargain Bin hardcovers.

(The final song on his final album, “Keep Me in Your Heart”, plays during the funeral scene for Gibbs’s dad on NCIS, and it never fails to make me a little weepy.)

So it looks like we’re holding off on a vet visit for the moment. But at least my dad and I have had the conversation about it and what our plans are after our time with her is over.

Things seem to have improved for Roxy for now. I think what this experience has taught us so far is we’re gonna keep an eye on her and see how she’s doing. She doesn’t seem to be in severe pain at the moment and her energy is all right for her age.

I normally don’t care for dogs much, but she was the one who grew on me.

We’ve had her for 15 years and we’ve known this time was going to come at some point. She had 15 wonderful years with us and she’s been an amazing companion and in some ways a natural antidepressant. I’m going to miss her deeply.

I’ve been dealing with a lot of anticipatory grief the last couple of days, but it breaks my heart to see her in the condition she’s in and the most compassionate thing to do would be to let her go.

We’re also in agreement on not getting another dog.

So, my dad and I have had a conversation and we are both in agreement that we will have to say goodbye to Roxy soon. I won’t go into details right now, but she’s been in a bit of decline recently and things have started getting more serious.

I’m not expecting this game to go to a 19th inning, especially with Freddie Freeman leading off.

That said, I kinda want to see it go to the 19th inning just to break the longest game record.

Just must be something about Game 3s that make them go for extra innings.

I haven’t really watched this World Series (not crazy about either team), but man…they’re in the 16th now?!

Might as well see if they can break the record for longest World Series game. The current record is 18 innings, held by Game 3 of the 2018 World Series. (Coincidentally won by the Dodgers.)

I think it’s officially a Paper Bag Season for us Dolphins fans.

I finished the “Circe” episode yesterday. There are three episodes and around 160 pages left in my copy of “Ulysses”: “Eumaeus”, “Ithaca”, and “Penelope”.

Reading along to the RTÉ radio play has really made a difference in being able to take in what is an otherwise tricky novel. #BookSky 📚

I think it’s a little too late for that, he’s already contributed to the gene pool.

You don’t give a Nobel Peace Prize to a man who’s responsible for the growing darkness and the destruction of democracy in his own country.

All this talk about him wanting a Nobel Peace Prize without actually putting in any work towards peace at home or abroad, I think the press release announcing the actual winner put in an appropriate dig at him, “…to a woman who keeps the flames of democracy burning amid a growing darkness.”

He’d probably ramble on about all the wonderful stuff in Eastasia before blaming it on the Democrats.

But I’d totally be laughing my 🫏 off! The correct answer is “We’ve always been at war with Eastasia.”

(Game wasn’t even broadcast locally in my area. So I had to read about the results.)

I got around 10-15 pages into it this afternoon before deciding to take a break.

I’ve gotten to the “Circe” episode of “Ulysses”. This is the longest episode in the entire novel, with my edition clocking in at 144 pages for just this episode alone. The runtime in the RTÉ podcast episode is nearly 5 hours. (I’m playing it at 1.2x speed when I listen to it.) #BookSky 📚
