Not following it up with a talky bottle show would have been a start.

Fair point. I’ve grown to regard the three episodes as a trilogy, with the middle segment being the weakest.

DS9 I think had the highest success rate with its 2-parters in terms of the 2nd part not being a let down but they weren’t flawless. Perhaps being effectively a continuous story they were set up to succeed. TNG/ Voyager rarely had a good “Part 2” and Best Of Both Worlds Part 2 is one of the worst.

Sorry TNG, Star Trek Already Proved Cliffhangers Still Work In Streaming 5 Years Ago Star Trek on Paramount+ has cliffhangers too.
