Not sure, but to me it looks like they're next to a old decaying part of some kind of flat worm or something.

A delightful little worm. I think in the Naididae family, possibly the genus "Nais"

They're actually kind of cute with their big tails and little crawly hands, but I nevertheless was a bit relieved when I checked my own earwax and didn't find any.

Here's a fun one - have you heard of Demodex mites? They are small enough to live in follicles unnoticed and there's a good chance that you have them yourself. Here I unexpectedly found some in a sample of my BF's earwax. I was shocked and worried until reading about them lol.

I assumed it was mold, but when I put it under the microscope I saw mites moving around in it (see the fourth image). Did they make it?

I'm not sure if the painstaking process of making this very basic thing was ultimately encouraging or discouraging to that venture. I am somewhat surprised it was even possible for me to do by hand, so that's at least a plus.

A little silly, but I have had the thought for a bit now that it'd be interesting to make constructed art pieces meant to be viewed under a microscope. This is a sort of practice to see what the basic process of that could be like - it's "HELLO" spelled with a single strand of hair cut up on tape.
