Regrettably the current president and SCOTUS care little for the Constitution or precedents in law. There is a new order of things in the US.

Mike Johnson is a weasel. When Johnson and his MAGA politician buddies are confronted with uncomfortable news, they claim know nothing. Just like Trump when asked about a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, he replied "I haven't heard the name in so long...". Senile or evil. Maybe both.

I wrote an article for the latest issue of Noir City magazine, co-authored with Danilo Castro, a managing editor of the publication. It’s called “Between Stories, Elevator Operators in Noir.”

George was just trying to get to work.

ICE pepper-sprayed him, dragged him from his car, locked him in a detention center, and placed him on suicide watch. He even missed his young daughter’s birthday in the process.

This man is a veteran and American citizen. Don't look away.

Way too much winning. 🤪

And for some reason, Trump maintains his support. What will it take for Trump to lose his lustre? Maybe his cruelty is his magic power. Hate is powerful.

I am not sure that shutting down ICE is going to help. Under the current regime, another organization would take up their work. There needs to be a change in the leadership (Noem, Miller, etc.) that is driving these actions. And the other branches of government need to start to do their job.

Six months? That's disgraceful. He's getting the same leniency as Epstein. It's even more disgraceful when I think about the position of trust and authority that he held.

ICE thugs will fight hard to make sure that the tides don’t change. They have a lot at stake in the status quo. Just like Trump. All of them should be facing legal consequences. But I don’t see it happening. Trump‘s power is absolute. All this stuff about “we the people“ is just a fairytale.

MAGA farmers voted for this. I’m sure they won’t be looking for a handout from the government to help them out given that that would be socialist.

I don't know whether Biden was influencing/pressuring Garland or vice versa. My impression is that Biden picked someone for the job that was not up to the task. Some responsibility has to fall on Biden's shoulders for this.

The question I keep asking myself is this: the DOJ and state prosecutors had ample evidence against Trump and his associates, from the classified documents at Mar-a-Lago to many other offenses. Yet justice moved at a glacial pace, and Trump walked away feeling untouchable. Why did this happen?

This is madness. In the NY Times: A federal vaccine advisory panel appeared poised to vote against recommending vaccinating children under 4 with a combination shot that protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox. It was also expected to vote to limit the use of a hepatitis B vaccine.

For some reason, this testimony, which is quite shocking, will have no effect on the direction that the United States is heading. I do not understand America and their rejection of science. It’s as if the people in charge and their followers want to live in the middle ages.

Trump is trying to provoke Venezuela into a reaction (doesn’t matter how small) so that he can justify sending in the military to remove Maduro. It’s time for the Department of War to do a war.

Very sad news. We lost Eddie (the beautiful girl in my profile photo) just over a year ago. I still can’t believe she’s gone. For weeks, her 5-year-old son Rudy kept searching for her. Two new kittens have kept him company, and more recently we adopted a rescue who looks like Eddie.

A friend of mine, who is also a physicist thought that kids today suffered from spending too much time with screen based activities. Unlike when we were kids, we spent our time tinkering and building things with 3-D materials like Meccano.

Concepts or the underlying math? Several years ago they eliminated in Ontario Grade 13 where you could have 3 math courses - calculus, functions and algebra. So math prep is now weak. I’m surprised about weakness in concepts you have seen. Been years since I taught though.
