This morning, I explained to a neighbor that we ensure access to our bat-nursery attic. She was respectful and quiet. What are the chances I got past her dread?

I was working hard yesterday (unpaid) weeding, pruning and mulching seven 5yo trees in a valley. Trees on the adjacent property slated for unnecessary development (large-lot housing) were being felled and removed.

Earth's carbon sinks are being eroded by climate change feedback loops Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have risen an extra 15 parts per million since 1960 due to the declining ability of the land and sea to soak up excess CO2

CO2 levels are 15ppm higher because of climate feedbacks impairing the ability of the land and seas 🌊 to take up some of the extra CO2 we're pumping into the atmosphere, according to β€ͺ@pfriedling.bsky.social‬ πŸ§ͺ

This was expected, but it's still not good

Here in US we have a "Fix Our Forests" attitude to protect homes of ppl and cut those of critters for timber, as needed.

A timber rattler, which belongs here, popped up in our county against all odds. The police were called, and it was promptly removed.
Good job, humans. Not.

Jumping worms transported by us in our lawns are one thing. In our forest they consume the leaf litter sponge that nourishes all forest life.

South Australia’s algal bloom isn’t random. It’s what happens when we cross #PlanetaryBoundariesβ€”climate, nitrogen, ecosystem collapse.

This is real. It’s economic. It’s now.
