So who got their early cropping varieties picked before the storm?
04.08.2025 07:22 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thankyou!
You know what makes this more embarrassing... I've had them before according to the star beside them!!
Fair few at mine this week too :) makes a change from C.rustics and LYUs. Glad to see them back in numbers but also they can piss off lf9r distubing everything on the traps with their continual fidgeting ๐
03.08.2025 11:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Im pulling my hair out at these and probably now can't see for looking... (Assuming two females and a male) ...worn Udea Prunalis? Bright white/cream underwing.

Bullrush Wainsoct to the North Coast Coleraine area last night. Not been recorded since pree 2000 and only two sites in county.

100% agree, cracking CCF managed throughout the country. Oak incorporated into this one we passed though in the midlands..
(Excuse the holiday pics!)
Finally, I was graced with a Ghost Moth to the N.Coast garden. And a Female too. :)
Took over 10yrs of recording/trapping!

Keep it simple with a Antinic light trap. There are a few different versions and most below 20w can be run off a 12v battery should you want to get out to some rural locations.
16.07.2025 20:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It would.work on 20plume, Brown House and White Shoulderd (tho they don't do any clothes eating. Its only casebearing clothes moth and I don't think the adults of those come to light.
But you should still get a a moth trap and survey tho!
Braved the hundreds of tics at Sheshkinmore to get the 6W out last night. Torrential rain in early hours but good spread & healthy numbers.
Highlight Orthotelia sparganella (new to county) A. yeatiana (ntm) and coastal species Chestnut Coloured Carpet which here shows violet :)

I'd call that fair game if its tarmac LA paths and will be removed otherwise.
01.07.2025 20:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Another two new species for the North Coast NI garden.
Marbled White Spot (don't know why this took so long but clearly a clgap up here in the NW... it's finally here now.)
and
Pseudoswammerdamia combinella - another nice micro to add ๐

Yeah I've taken a bit of a general hiatus from socials with a few things happening on the estate... Once these are resolved, I'll hopefully be picking up a bit more coverage again.
24.06.2025 09:38 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A most delightful solstice trapping where finally got in on some of the immigrant moth action even this far north with a Boarderd Straw (beat to the most northerly recoerd by Geoff a day ago in BallyC ๐ซ ) + two new to garden - Poplar Grey + E. campoliliana

When I started, the pastures of Mount Stewart were barren, monocultures...
