Ozempic was cheaper because it was covered for diabetes while Wegovy was only weight loss. The drugs are stupid expensive, though, and 2024 was rough because of all the shortages. That seems to have worked itself out now. I pay like $180/month, but retail is like $1,400/month.

The only annoying part is navigating how insurance will cover Wegovy vs Ozempic differently even though they are the same drug. Wegovy's pen-needle things are way more convenient, Ozempic is more like a traditional diabetic pen with removable needles.

It's a miracle drug. I know that's a cliche but it's been amazing. It cuts your appetite like crazy and forces you to change your eating habits so you lose weight. Not sure about long term yet. I think it's only approved for one year at a time use, at least that's what insurance will cover.
