One of the many pleasures of living in Oregon is fresh hop beers during hop harvest. They’re fickle and fleeting, but when they hit, they’re sublime. This beer hit.

Also, the HBC 1019 beers I tasted gave me peach gummy rings, which is maybe my limited palate’s amalgamation of the different elements in the breeders’ tasting notes.

How early is a “relatively early” window? I’ve seen breweries post about Tettnang, Centennial, and Strata so far. I haven’t seen any brewery picking up Cascade but assume it’s imminent or I just missed it. Where does Dolcita sit?

“Acid beers” is OK when used in contrast with “clean beers” and is better than “sour beers,” but it’s not great marketing.

Mixed-culture/mixed-fermentation is the best fit. Drinkers are going to self-select: if they’re curious enough to care about these beers, they’re in deep enough to not find it too technical, and the segment that does find the term too technical isn’t likely to be interested in them.

Oude Northwest Phantastic Foudre is a complete package: a wild ale with balanced acidity and funk, abundant aroma and flavor from the hop bill and Phantasm, finishes dry, and a great value in 16oz cans.
