Bill Gates opens up about his divorce and Jeffrey Epstein
YouTube video by CNN Bill Gates opens up about his divorce and Jeffrey Epstein

Like the answers or not, he has talked about it. It came up during the divorce, said he had dinners with him, doesn't appear to have visited his island, said it was a huge mistake, etc...

What is Mother Cabrini Day in Colorado? Cabrini Day was put in place when the Colorado Legislature passed Frances Xavier Cabrini House Bill 20-1031 on March 10, 2020.

The Columbus Day holiday is really only meaningful to Italian Americans for the most part. Cabrini is a far more fitting figure to honor. www.cbsnews.com/amp/colorado...

Thursday for giving thanks and Friday for remembering history? From just a practical sense, Thanksgiving is never going away but it could evolve somewhat. I dunno, there are more than a few ways to go about Indigenous People’s Day… but I’m a big fan of Cabrini Day to directly replace Columbus Day.

Cooper actually puts the Senate into play. Clearing the way for this was just a huge assist from Donald Trump. πŸ˜‚

In retrospect, Crossfire was actually MUCH better than what cable news has morphed into.

Ok, that's basically my point. I guess what I'm suggesting is to remake the holiday from a cartoon into an actual observation that includes a more realistic remembrance of history and representation of Native people in the foundation of the country.

The only Dem less likely to win the Presidential primary is Rahm Emmanuel

Wouldn't recasting the holiday observance as a combined Thanksgiving and Indigenous People's Day holiday be an improvement in that case?

31.07.2025 05:43 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, potentially. Though I'd think it would fit better as part of the Thanksgiving season than on Christopher Columbus' birthday. My rationale being that Thanksgiving is already highly tied to founding myths and Native interaction with Pilgrims. This would enable a more serious/accurate depiction.

31.07.2025 05:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, why not decouple the holiday entirely from Columbus?

31.07.2025 05:36 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Better solution is to replace Columbus Day with Cabrini Day (see Colorado) and move Indigenous People's Day to the day after Thanksgiving, thus making it a Federally recognized 4-day weekend. Pairing Thanksgiving and Indigenous People's Day is a good fit, anyway.

The Price of Remission: This Cancer Drug Saves Lives β€” but Costs a Fortune. I Wanted to Know Why. When I was diagnosed with cancer, I set out to understand why a single pill of Revlimid cost the same as a new iPhone. I’ve covered high drug prices as a reporter for years. What I discovered shocked…

Revlimid has its origin in a pill that cost patients $7.50 each. Decades later, the cancer drug costs more than $18,000 for a month’s supply β€” even though it still only costs about 25 cents to manufacture.

Honestly, I think most of his supporters just wanted to elevate UBI into the national conversation.

You should absolutely back whoever you want for the nomination, I don't disagree. But effectively ANY Democrat is light years better than JD Vance in my opinion. Folks suggesting they'll stay home if the nominee is flawed are making a bad calculation. Trump is infinitely worse than Harris or Newsom.

Brown was great, I hope he runs in the special next year. He went down by less than 4% in a bad year, way outperforming Harris.

I think the idea that β€œThe President is simultaneously an institution beyond the reach of criminal law and also a private person who can file $10 billion defamation suits when he dislikes a news article” is not very sensible.

It wasn’t so long ago that Democrats were pretty competitive in Ohio. Once Trump is out of the picture, who knows. We need to figure out ways to make states like Ohio and Texas competitive again. I have some faint hopes for the Senate races in both next year.

I could answer this by saying that his comment on the podcast quoted above doesn’t rise to the level of what I consider evil. But I know 12 people are now going to come dunk on me and say β€œso you’re literally saying you love nazis?”

So just leaving it there. We can disagree about the word evil.

I suspect Newsom's comments on these issues are transparent pandering. And my strong suspicion is that he doesn't actually care about most of these culture wedge issues, and he won't actually do anything if he's elected president. Vance, on the other hand, appears to be a true believer and would. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

20.07.2025 07:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Middle American voters are generally accepting and tolerant of transgender people, according to most of the polls I've seen. But they're also not fully fluent in the language of the community and the shorthand for that is "pronouns." Newsom is not my first choice, but I'd take him 1000x over Vance.
