I was about to say that. Many charities, and more, could not function without them. The French find that very strange (or they used to, I could be out of date), as they are taking people's jobs!

Many of retirees do some sort of charitable, supportive and voluntary work!

Rather too much of that about at the moment, unfortunately. Something to do with "charisma"/being good on you tube/social media/not worrying about the truth?? And people not really caring, maybe? Until realisation dawns when something unpleasant affects them personally? Hopefully not too late!

While I'm still undecided on a true wealth tax I see absolutely no reason why the top 1% pay less effective tax on their incomes than anyone else by changing it from strict personal income into something else.
