4. If you really want to bring new people in, then be prepared to meet people where they are and give them a reason to come. When they do show up, give them a reason to keep coming back.

3. And just because someone might have heard about it and liked it, that doesn't mean they'll decide to visit an Episcopal church. So don't expect floods of people to start coming in.

2. However, let's not overestimate how many people actually heard about it. Social media often just amplifies voices we're already hearing and interested in; so it seems like more people are taking an interest in some occurrence than is actually the case.

I've seen some people in Episco-land post about expecting a bunch of new people in church this Sunday. Here are some of my thoughts on that:
1. Always be prepared to welcome newcomers.

Some say churches shouldn't be "political," that they should stick to what's "biblical." I suggest they reread the Bible, especially the prophets and Jesus. True Bible-based believers are concerned about the good of the polis, the social health of the community, especially those on the margins.

Post from 'Rev. Benjamin Cremer' states, "If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have deeply, deeply misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ."

So many have not learned them at all.
