I was slow, but the morning was pretty.

A big storm this morning pushed my run to lunchtime. It’s gorgeous now.

It’s nice to be home.

To everyone who made it through Day One of the bar exam —congratulations! It’s tough, and it tests you. You might feel like quitting, but please don’t. If you need to throw up, do it. But don’t throw in the towel. This is a marathon. Not every mile feels good, but you’ve trained for this. Go get it!

Lots of travel lately, and I’m home for one night before heading to a conference in Florida. I was lamenting the heat and humidity, but it will be quite similar (and maybe a touch better).

And we’re here for you, during and after this exam, no matter what. So breathe deeply, trust yourself, and when it’s over, take time to rest, reflect, and extend grace to yourself and to others. You’ve earned it. You’ve got this. And we believe in you.

This exam is a gateway, not a verdict. Whether the next few days go as planned, you remain accomplished, capable, and deeply valued. You’ve come this far, and you should expect success.

We are proud of you—proud of your effort, your heart, and your journey.

You’ve worked hard, made significant sacrifices, and grown immensely. As you step into this next challenge, remember: the bar exam tests your knowledge, not of your worth. It doesn’t define your character, your integrity, or your future. You are already so much more than any exam could ever reflect.

To our Creighton Law graduates—and to every law school graduate across the country preparing to take the bar exam this week—this moment is yours.

I don’t love running in the heat of the afternoon, but the day started with cars, planes, and buses so it was worth it. It was hot, but this one was pretty fast. NB: only by my recent standards

It appears rain is on the way, but it’s pretty so far.

I forgot to start my running app until I was a ways in. Kendra often tells me I know how far I went, so the app doesn’t really matter. I still not so sure, but I’m trying it as a growth moment.
