As someone who has loved TRON for most of my life, the one thing I have never wanted to see was "what if the computer people and things that you like and look cool came into the 'real' world?". I'll still see it, tho.

There's a trend going around TikTok to have ChatGPT create visual alphabets (because the output is always full of ridiculous mistakes). I generated this one to use an example to help explain WHY AI image generators make these kinds of mistakes. It turned out even better/worse than expected.

We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers.

The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

The technology isn't useful

Nobody had to stand on artists and say "you don't get a budget increase to hire new people unless you do 20% more work with the clone brush" cus it's just useful lol

How do I get this?!

Having now done quite a bit of data gathering, I have concluded that hashbrowns inside sandwiches/wraps are almost always zero effect or negative to the end product. Outside, their crispiness and potato centers can shine and be great...inside a sandwich they just become filler. It's a shame.

Played both when they came out, which now seems crazy to have done both the same year given how much time I spent with each...I suppose I had lots more time on my hands as a young lad.

I expect that consumer-facing AI programs will continue to improve and they may become much more useful tools for everyday life in the future.

But I think it was a disastrous mistake that today’s models were taught to be convincing before they were taught to be right.
