So I'd like to show a demonstration of what this "waffles" thing is. Here's a conversation between *this site's* CEO, some random guy, and the cofounder of "Tangled", a GitHub clone built on top of Bluesky's protocol.

Please take a moment to really think, about the shape of this thoughtlessness.

FWIW, pretty much every liberal I knew from KY hated the guy from the moment he appeared.

Jewish student says Mahmoud Khalil protected them more than Columbia New court filings revealed letters from Jewish students and professors in support of the detained pro-Palestinian activist.

But that doesn't even mention any specific claims about Khalil's behavior, just that he was involved in the protests.

In fact, in looking for some source on him targeting Jewish students, the only thing that turned up was this article: www.newsweek.com/mahmoud-khal...

Erwin Knoll - Wikipedia

Or actually, following the links:
"in January 1982, [the Attorney General] referred to the epigram "Everything you read in the newspapers is absolutely true except for the rare story of which you happen to have firsthand knowledge" as "Knoll's Law of Media Accuracy."

Searching, I see fan speculation about it, but no indication that its a real thing.

Everyone in this thread is misreading that quote -- he's trying to claim that trans issues are a distraction from "traditional" education or some such, and kids learn less as a result.

And I disagree with that, but its important to actually parse what these folks are saying!

I doubt just increasing the enrollment size of Harvard would work. It is incredibly difficult to take a working organization and simply scale it up. What we should want is more universities with Harvard's level of funding and resources, not larger Harvards.

I have a book on networking protocols that was written in 1994 -- and all the command line utilities it mentions are still there on my macbook.

I've previously traced the evolution of multiple blocks of rules text from 3.0 -> 3.5 -> Pathfinder 1 to infer intent and thus resolve a confusing spell description!

I sometimes look up citations when I see a dubious claim on Wikipedia, and even that one level is too much for a lot of folk!

The final vote: 51-45, with 4 people absent.

CLOTURE FAILS, A CONGRESSIONAL SPORTS BAN WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Democrats hold firm, not a single dem voted for cloture.

MAJOR victory for everyone who called in today and this week in support of trans people.

Guys like this focus only on the transgressor and how we should treat them -- through a lens of punishment+judgment. Then believe themselves the better person because they can forgive.

They either don't see or don't care about the costs such second chances lay on others.

Why do BBC News use so many 'quotes' in headlines I have noticed a that the BBC News website seems to use quotes in their headlines in places where I can see no reason to do so. Take the following story: Julius Malema: South Africa issues 'arrest

For whatever reason, this is pretty consistently how the BBC writes headlines :)
