Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

Ah, another minority that JK Rowling and her - ilk?, is that the word? - don't think exist, and will happily persecute for no reason.

Thank you , Guardian, for letting a minority speak for themselves and their real experiences. More of this, please. Fewer hateful reality deniers.

This is how you manufacture consent. Nothing since the SC ruling had required any of this, but GCs insist that people illegally misinterpret it for their own personal discriminatory agenda.

This is chilling. And that's a phrase that has been used so much in the past few years it is beginning to lose all meaning.

But yes, this - along with that disturbing military .. rally? - are chilling developments in the dismantling of democracy.

not to point at anyone in particular, but I have been in and on many different internet communities of various shapes/sizes/technologies and one mistake I consistently see made is assuming the technical part of running a community is the hard part.

it's not.
it's the social part.
it's moderation.

MADELEINE DEAN: The president is unhinged. He's unwell

JOHNSON: A lot of folks on your side are too

D: Oh my god, please. That performance in front of the generals?

J: I didn't see it

D: It's so dangerous! Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing. You have a POTUS who's unwell.

The Hampstead ponds have REPEATEDLY voted to include trans women. But the officious pricks at Sex Matters don’t care what other women think and are forcing a public consultation anyway. Throw the ponds some support.

As an #intersex child, I'd often wait until the break was over before I went to the toilet, and then I'd often sit in the locked cubicle and cry because I was terrified of going back into the classroom where the teacher would single me out for example

It was 1979, and I was 9 years old 🧡

🚨 UPDATE 🚨

The news is in, and it’s good

🚫 GWD, the anti-trans lobby group led by four disgraced expelled members, has been denied a platform at Autumn Conference

They tried to strong-arm the party with legal threats in order to spread their transphobic agenda

But the party stood firm

We are at Labour conference, telling members about the impact of the proposed bathroom ban. It would devastate trans people’s lives, create unworkable business challenges, and alienate voters.

This would be Labour’s legacy on LGBT+ rights for a generation. But it’s not too late for them to stop it.

I had the opportunity today to speak with @mehdirhasan.bsky.social about Gaza, AIPAC, and what Democrats need to do better.

An easy first step? No AIPAC money. Ever.

AIPAC is supporting my opponent but I’m on the right side of history.

the youtube vs yt-dlp arms race is hilarious, because of how lopsided it is.

on the one hand, you've got a company with the GDP of Denmark who has about a manhattan-project's worth of developers they can assign to this.

but on the other end, you've got every bored or annoyed javascript hacker.

The prominent critique of the ADL on the left in recent years has been that they do whatever the Israeli government wants. And I understand why people think that! But this is actually not that. The Israeli government did not ask for this; the American Christian right did.

Dr. Agarwal is among more than 20 researchers who have left their work at Meta, OpenAI, Google DeepMind and other big A.I. projects in recent weeks to join a new Silicon Valley start-up, Periodic Labs. Many of them have given up tens of millions of dollars β€” if not hundreds of millions β€” to make the move.

As the A.I. labs chase amorphous goals like superintelligence and a similar concept called artificial general intelligence, Periodic is focused on building A.I technology that can accelerate new scientific discoveries in areas like physics and chemistry.

β€œThe main objective of A.I. is not to automate white-collar work,” said Liam Fedus, one of the start-up’s founders. β€œThe main objective is to accelerate science.”

Mr. Fedus was among the small team of OpenAI researchers who created the online chatbot ChatGPT in 2022. He left OpenAI in March to found Periodic Labs with Ekin Dogus Cubuk, who previously worked at Google DeepMind, the tech giant’s primary A.I. lab.

1) This is some pretty remarkable shade thrown at the big AI companies by a startup that's hiring away their researchers

2) That those researchers are giving up millions to do this indicates a rising level of discomfort with OpenAI/Meta/Google/etc's moral standing

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

Ever since the Never Gonna Give You Up in Juggling Lab, people have been asking me to run Doom on Juggling Lab. But where's the fun in that? Why run one Doom in Juggling Lab when you could JUGGLE THREE DOOMS AT ONCE?

(You can only control the Doom that's at the top!)
