UPDATE: The USGS "shake map" showing the intensity of the 4.7 earthquake. Looks to be minor along the Wasatch Front. Utah's Dept. of Public Safety says so far, no injuries/damage reported.

A good reminder that we live in earthquake country so be prepared! beready.utah.gov/utah-hazards... #Utah

In the Basin & Range Province, GPS measurements reveal prolonged extensionβ€”from infinitesimal motion in eastern Utah to about 6.5 mm/year in western Nevada. The effects of this slow, steady stretching can be observed in the presence of nearly parallel mountain ranges and valleys in the landscape.
