I just shouted β€œShut up” at Bruce, as she interrupted Cooper for a second time in her answer. Now she’s NOT interrupting the Tory. Utterly biased chairing of the debate!

This letter appeared in The Yorkshire Post on 2 December 2025. Peter Packham, Chair of Leeds for Europe, argues an earlier correspondent's idea that Brexit has left the UK free to impose tariffs on other European countries would be counter-productive and bad for Britain economically.

Green Onions (2023 Remaster)
YouTube video by Booker T. & the M.G.’s - Topic Green Onions (2023 Remaster)

RIP the great, the legendary Steve Cropper. He composed (or co-composed) so many wonderful tunes - Soul Limbo, Time Is Tight, Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay and much more. Here's his understated guitar work on the fabulous Green Onions

I've not always agreed with Richard Burgon, but this is simple messaging that the upper echelons of the #LabourParty need to heed and implement:

When Rachel Reeves and the OBR blame Brexit for Budget Day tax rises and the state of the economy, REMEMBER:

Labour is backing Brexit, and the OBR is making its forecasts based on the damage Brexit HAS ALREADY DONE!

It's infuriating to see so much of the media give Kruger the same kid gloves treatment that Rees-Mogg used to get because he is posh and polite and able to wrap his bigotry in enough intellectual tissue paper to make it seem like a political philosophy rather than an expression of white supremacy.

What a disingenuous response from the dispatch box. The country didn't like the Alternative Vote proposal. Full PR wasn't on the ballot. Moreover, that was 12-13 years ago.
Labour came to power with a huge amount of political goodwill after that Tory gov't and they're just frittering it away.

The UK isn’t a β€œsoft touch” on asylum.

UK asylum seeker benefits are similar to European neighbours

No right to work before 12 months (it’s 6 months in France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands)

UK settlement after 5 years (it’s 3 or 4 in Germany)

Let’s cut out the alarmist rhetoric.

For those who don’t remember, Google’s original 2004 motto was β€œDon’t be evil.” During the first Trump term in 2018, it removed its long-obsolete motto from the preface of its code of conduct.

It's the new, "those immigrants want all your biscuits".

The inevitable next step; politicians responding not to the critical causes, but to the phoney "fury" & "rage" in the right wing press every single day.

Lies & misrepresentations that are then amplified by the BBC.

This thread collating the Sheffield Tribune’s brilliant investigation into the spivvy lawyer threatening Yorkshire leaseholders into handing over cash is worth reading before the story goes national.

Not all parties are the same.

There is an alternative to the
far right hate being promulgated by Starmer's Labour and the official opposition.

Home Secretary plots sweeping immigration reforms 'and more deportations' after 50k criminals sent home under Labour | LBC The Home Secretary is set to launch major ECHR and Modern Slavery reforms

What is it about the Home Office?
Mahmood is beginning to sound just like Patel & Braverman.

Getting so sick of Labour Ministers trying to out-Tory the Tories, trying to out-Reform Reform.

Wasn't the whole point of electing them to see the change they promised?

Why the BBC should not counter-claim against Trump, whatever he calls them, unless as a last resort.

The four-word message the BBC should send Trump about his $1bn lawsuit The corporation must show it will not be cowed, unlike American broadcast media, and call the president’s bluff

The BBC should shame the American broadcasters for their spineless capitulation by refusing to be bullied, writes @arusbridger.bsky.social.

I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but interesting that one of the Prescott criticisms of the BBC is based on those of the 'History Reclaimed' group, which is also associated with the 'Restore Trust' group's attacks on & so far unsuccessful attempts to take control of the National Trust. 1/3

I think I do understand it but none of it reflects well on them.
They are terrified. Terrified of the right wing media, terrified of Farage and most of all, terrified of Trump.
Everyone in this govt will look back in 20 years and regret their cowardice. But that's how cowardice works isn't it?
