Trump & Republicans are gutting Medicaid & ACA subsidies to fund billionaire tax breaks & ICE — putting hospitals & working families at risk. H.R. 1 cuts $900B from Medicaid and strips coverage from 10M people. At Glendale Memorial, ~80% rely on Medicaid or Medicare — these cuts threaten its future.

Equality California brings the voices of LGBTQ+ people and allies to institutions of power in CA and across the U.S. I, alongside advocates and leaders, strive to create a world that is healthy, just, ans fully equal for all LGBTQ+ people. Until the work is done.

This is shameful, and it should be called out exactly for what it is. But we won’t stand for it. We will continue to provide resources for those that the federal government is turning its back on.

This harms our historically disadvantaged communities and those in our communities who need the assistance of government the most.

California contributes billions of dollars in federal taxes each year, and yet the Trump Administration has attempted to impound Congressionally appropriated funds and withhold federal funding to California.

Governor Gavin Newsom recently unveiled his proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. California must address our budget deficit.

But let’s be very clear: the Trump Administration is taking advantage of the situation by weaponizing the tools of the federal government to punish Californians.

Earlier this week, we presented our first bill of 2026 in the Assembly Housing and Community Development Committee. It passed almost unanimously!

AB 939 modernizes California’s Density Bonus Law to expand affordable homeownership opportunities.

Together we will continue the fight to preserve full access to reproductive care in California!

California lawmakers continue to stand for affordable healthcare in our state. We have worked hard to defend healthcare:

• Allotting $195 million in the State Budget has been to Covered California subsides.
• Investing $140 million to protect Planned Parenthood and reproductive care. (3/4)

Tax credits have significantly helped to cut down costs of marketplace coverage for millions. With the Trump admin’s dismissal of this crucial lifeline, up to 400k individuals are now at risk of losing coverage altogether. Those aged 55-64 are most likely to be impacted by these price hikes. (2/4)

On 1/1/26, Affordable Care Act subsides ended due to Trump’s inaction to renew the ACA Enhanced Premium Tax Credits = nearly 2 million Californians enrolled in Covered California will see increases to their monthly premiums, some now facing more than double what they previously paid. (Part 1 / 4)
