I don't know what I'm going to post here but let's be real, it's going to be Formula 1, tabletop gaming and generic nerdery with a side of tired leftism.

If nothing else it's just really nice to see a couple of painted armies going up against each other. :D

The lads from Cadia put up a decent struggle. I was ahead on points until the last turn but thanks to the way the missions and secondaries landed my opponent ended up scoring more points in the last turn than I had the entire game.

Them's the breaks. :D

Sounds like you’d really benefit from looking this up for yourself. It’s about a lot but recent themes for given years have been about suicide prevention, finding actual positive role models beyond celebs and influencers, gender equality, encouraging young men to care about health, etc.

Kid: Milk
@strandedselkie.bsky.social: Do you want milk?
Kid: Yes
@strandedselkie.bsky.social: Shall we get you some milk?
Kid: No

I’ll give her this, she keeps us on our toes.

It’s true, you can’t dry brush a space marine.

A nice thing about having a proper shape sorter toy (not everything goes in the square hole) is that I can sometimes short circuit an impending tantrum by just playing with the sorter in front of the kiddo and doing it deliberately wrong. She can't resist coming and showing Daddy how to do it right.

They also do content delivery (meaning they have copies of files in data centers all over the world so when you load a video, for example, it can come from a local server instead of across the world).

Sadly the fact they do so much for so many sites means when they have an outage EVERYTHING does.

They don't do that kind of file hosting. What they do do is actually very cool. Amongst other things they do attack mitigation, of all kinds. They constantly monitor new threats and put a layer of defense in front of a lot of websites (a LOT of websites) and protect against DDoS attacks too.

The promise of household robots was that they'd tidy up and do our laundry leaving us time to write and create art.

The reality is that they're stealing the creation of art and writing from us so all we have left is tidying up and laundry.

I too shall not cede ground on this one.

This is bullshit.

"absolutely no genAI in games" is the middle ground.

"how many years in jail should Sam Altman get for knowingly stealing all data ever" is the somewhat more extreme stance I personally adopt.

Just spent an absolutely lovely morning just going around Ikea. Amazing how joyful even a mundane thing can become when you're doing it with a toddler who has never done it before (as far as she can remember).

Games I am currently playing:

Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Pokemon Platinum Edition
Persona 3 FES
Final Fantasy VII

All of which I'm playing for the first time.

Yeah... I'm doing ok while I ride out the AI bubble.

Console gamers who want to get into PC gaming. Xbox owners who feel like MS is abandoning them. PC owners who also want a big screen experience at the tv. Parents who want to get their kids their own PC without the hassle of building a system out. Don’t worry, it’ll sell.

Eww, please don't make me defend Sandy here... but he specifically doesn't claim to have made E1M1. He claims to have made AN E1M1 that was thrown out and never seen.

How many trans people have the BBC had on this week discussing the BBC's pro-trans bias?

Zero.

Alternatively the BBC accepting that trans people exist is considered too pro-trans?

James Watson, dead at 97, was a scientific legend and a pariah among his peers James Watson, the co-discoverer of the structure of DNA who died Thursday at 97, was a scientific legend and a pariah among his peers.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I have no idea whether Eli Roth sucks, I have never seen an Eli Roth movie. Partly because I don't like gory movies.

When I said Elon couldn’t possibly come across as any more divorced if he tried I never actually thought he’d hear me. Certainly didn’t expect him to treat it as a challenge. But he sure showed me!
