The piece of code I am the most proud of is called Dupliclef. I wrote it for my dad to be able to save his USB keys and hard-drives. He is old school, but he religiously preserves his data and emails locally by cliquing on the small icon in his Dock. The script then detects the hard drives and keys.

Computer Science has a lot to learn from Information Science.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

The same people who tell you that LLMs can reason and manipulate facts will tell you that one cannot prove that a program is correct.
