When an EM is a profession, such a board will be of value. But until then any recommendations would be filed with all the others lessons learned documents.

Witnesses could have thought there were two shooters - but by saying "suspects" that means PD had names and identities for two.

What usually the case is "cop talk" slipping into public comms. If they didn't have a name, they didn't have a "suspect" but rather a "possible second shooter."

But... Ouch - what a major miss by the PD. Sounds like they need PIO training, as it seems obvious they didn't mean 'suspect'.

It's pretty rare for an AVI to come with two shooters - interesting that they identified two suspects that quick! Good work by PD.

Agreed - regional WARNING offices are absolutely needed, and if that doesn't take place in the next decade the NWS will be left by the wayside, but local offices can't close anytime soon.

Oh it's not complicated - Trump's Project 2025 promised cuts.

They did them, found out it can result in deaths, and now are undoing them. It's late, and cost years of experience, but it's a good step.

On the other hand - with EM turnover pretty high in smaller communities, be prepared to exchange them...

Most offices abuse FFW “out of an abundance of caution.” FAR too many are issued for flooding that might make you take a different route while going shopping. My WFO hasn’t issued one in 4 years - and that was a for a possible dam break…

At this time I can't think of any impacts. IPAWS doesn't use PBS broadcasting, and some states use their radio stations for EAS purposes but there are alternate routes if for some reason those go dark. I'd be interested if others come up with cases where it might be an issue.
