I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice.

This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

If anyone is a Saruman figure, surely it’s Musk himself, meddling in British affairs, trying to transform its society to his own megalomaniacal ends.

It does make the “don’t turn NYC into Europe” rhetoric extremely funny though.

*when I say “Republicans” here I really mean “right-wing conservatives”. The party itself is pretty much a hollow vessel for billionaires, cynics, and nutjobs (nonexclusive) at this point.

Also, Republicans were already tilling naturally authoritarian soil, but have spent the last half century using that compliant media and massive networks of churches to indoctrinate half the country into reactionary authoritarianism, which makes their voters tolerant of this stuff.

When Democrats exert power they are stopped by the courts and pilloried by the press. The reason Republicans can behave this way is they have spent half a century and many hundreds of billions of dollars molding the courts and the media to accept this behavior *only from Republicans*.

It’d be hilarious if Bari made her take it down for making “The Free Press” look bad.

Not that this is even a particularly fair comparison to Platner but imagine looking at the current state of the GOP (Trump just called himself the “the Speaker and the President”, has Republicans going on TV daily to excuse his corruption) and saying “I’ll have what they’re having”.
