Also shift the savings our systems would have with overdose trips to and stays in the hospital decreasing.

Shift funding that currently is being spent on the drug war into solutions.

Prescriptions could cost money- rated at a slightly lower price than street price.

A very cheap way would also be to legalize compassion clubs, like DULFs

Provide a safe supply of drugs (could be regulation, prescription, different communes will need to do this differently).

To treat addiction as a health problem instead of a criminal one.

Ramp up harm reduction efforts. Have treatment/detox not have waitlists and be regulated.

Canada and the US are continuing to ramp up the war on drugs.

The drug war is the reason the vast majority of people experiencing addiction (or just using drugs recreationally) die.

The War on Drugs only adds to the harm.

The only groups benefiting from it are the police who continue to see budgets skyrocket because of it, and sometimes the politicians who pretend to be “tough on crime”.

(Actual crime reduction would be poverty reduction policies)

Today I had to let bylaw/police take unhoused peoples tents (homes) and all their possessions in the middle of a rain storm.

Our systems are just so broken, or (more likely) they are working exactly as they were made too and they’re just evil.

I can’t comprehend the pov that sees homeless encampments and is angry at the individuals (victims) instead of the dehumanizing systems and policies we have (and can change).

Jesus was a low class refugee who called for the rich to give their wealth to the poor.

Refusing to implement drug policies that will save many lives is violence.

I’m so tired of our narrow understanding of violence.

Violence isn’t just physical, like shooting someone.

It’s denying healthcare, bad drug policy, capitalist housing policies, etc. etc.,

If we’re angry and sad at the former and not the latter, there’s something wrong.

I think being in charge of something that is causing mass deaths is more than just complicit. I won’t cheer on his killing at all, but it makes sense that if you live in such a way that causes so much trauma and death, people will bring violence back your way.
