“Who the fuck cares, man! They want you in debt for 50 years to buy a house! People are paying $1000 a month for health insurance that was $150 last year! Half the job listings in the country are fake, everyone’s getting laid off and there’s STILL no budget! Let’s talk about something that matters!”

Democrats don’t actually have to play the game of “abandon trans rights OR attempt to sincerely rebut every bad faith argument about trans people ever put forward by a government of weird little guys on drugs”

Simply reject the framing of this as a normal thing for the government to care about.

“I do not care, because I am an adult running for office to serve in a government of adults. I do not have time to discuss juvenile nonsense. I’m here to talk about reversing Trump’s tax hikes, solving the healthcare crisis, stabilizing the economy, and making childcare affordable.”

The answer to any question about “they’re transing the kids” type shit should be “What the fuck is wrong with you that this is your priority? Have you seen the jobs numbers? I’m not running for office to get between people and their doctors, I’m running for office to make sure people HAVE doctors.”

Paint the regime as what it actually is: unserious, incompetent, juvenile, and condescending. Completely out of touch with the average American’s priorities. Completely unfit to meet this moment. A bunch of weird dorks with weird personal agendas treating the American public like their bank account.

I don’t believe party messaging is actually the key factor that sways most elections—national elections often hinge on unpredictable global events, and local ones often hinge on candidate quality—but I guarantee some version of the above would be the maximally effective 2026 message for Democrats.

“Change your name to whatever the hell you want. That’s none of the government’s business. Republicans are the ones peeking down your pants while your 401(k) stares down an impending market crash when the AI bubble bursts and not one goddamn thing has been done to stabilize Social Security.”

“Democrats don’t care what pronouns you feel like using, we care about whether or not you can afford your groceries, your housing payment, AND your healthcare premiums. We believe nobody, cis, trans, or otherwise, should have to choose between staying above water financially and having a baby.”

“You’re footing the bill for unserious rich lunatics to go on ridiculous side quests while you can’t afford a pound of hamburger to feed your family. A legitimate government made up of adults would not spend one minute thinking about trans people’s genitals when a recession is barreling towards us.”

“They made every Christmas present you bought more expensive, added $2.2 trillion to the national debt, and the only thing they did to lower grocery prices is roll back some of their OWN tax hikes. Now they want to to pay for new foreign wars and subsidize Argentina’s beef industry.”

“Democrats need to abandon trans rights to win” is a mirror image of the message that WOULD win:

“Republicans ran on affordability, then passed the largest tax hike in history and made your healthcare costs triple. Now they’re obsessing over trans people, like they’ve solved all the real problems?”

This is going to sound conspiratorial, but it is serves the LLM techbros for the 'em-dash = AI' lay-belief to persist.

While em-dashes are diagnostically unreliable, it undermines the legitimacy of real writing/scholarship. And when real can't be discriminated from false, the false can thrive.

All media mergers end up hurting writers, actors, directors, and everyone else who works in the industry. Executives, assistants, caterers, teamsters, everyone. Fewer companies means fewer jobs, period.
