The "Big Beautiful Bill" is Not the Budget - ASCB If you’ve read recent news about Congress trying to pass β€œthe budget,” you may have noticed that even Washington, D.C. reporters don’t always have a firm grasp on the details of what they’re covering....

The "Big Beautiful Bill" isn’t the federal budgetβ€”it’s a reconciliation bill focused on tax cuts. The real FY26 funding decisions for NIH, NSF, and more are happening now in Congress.

β€œThese individuals are key to the careful stewardship of 80% of the NIH appropriation that is distributed to universities, academic medical centers and research institutes across the country,” Berg said at the Senate forum, referring to the research grants distributed by NIH.

Neuropeeps! Is there a list somewhere of the intramural neuroscience researchers @ NIH who have lost their jobs?

If not, could you reply to this thread or hit me up on Signal (tverstynen.64) if you happen to know of specific people?

Please boost if you don’t mind.

My talking points in recent interviews, please use as you see fit:
1.Every $1 in NIH funding returns ~$2.50 to the economy.
2.Every $1B in cuts from NIH extramural = 7500 lost employees, just in science.
3.These don't include priceless improvements in health.
