We've just had our solar installation done TODAY, it's online now and it's still generating more than our usage on a cloudy evening πŸ™‚

From Emily in Friends to Che Diaz: the TV characters so bad that they ruined shows One-note comic disasters, unconvincing panto villains, children who set your teeth on edge … some characters are so awful they’re painful to watch. We round up the worst

Odd list. Did Uncle Albert really "ruin" OFAH? (most interesting thing is he represents 80s/90s GB culture making fun of old people who remembered the war for going on about it too much. Contrast with reverential treatment of boomers for pretending to remember it)

I love "pictures that have come in from the wires" on a storm day. Ah look - a bin has fallen over! Etc

BBC politics being overstaffed with useless people (15 lobby correspondents) and having redundanced all the researchers etc I think.

Australian coverage is much better for this. Admittedly they have the advantage of lots more numbers coming in early on so less time to kill. Also don't really feel like they make much use of the Intel the on air politicians are getting, they just get them to recite talking points

In retrospect, Melanie Phillips being an early adopter was a bad harbinger for the internet.

BRING HER BACK (2025). Horror will never be my genre of choice though will watch it nowadays if there is interest and/or pedigree. Mainly in this case because of Talk To Me which had a lot for the non genre fan. This has less about it and Sally Hawkins miscast imo.

She's not the interim director of the RT - she left that role five years ago but is exploiting their name to promote the career interest of Mary Ann Stephenson who is her line manager at the Women's Budget Group

this is like saying that if you're trying to make a tiramisu 99% of the recipes you find online will be italian coded. pointing out that advice for men on how to "get laid" tends to be problematic is just egregious question begging

Some might say it's inappropriate to exploit the name of your former (trans inclusive) employer to promote the career of your current (transphobic) line manager. Not me though, I think it's great.

Just noticed that she isn't even the current director of RT, she left *five years ago*, and her current job is... Deputy Director of the Women's Budget Group (which MAS is director of!). Very good

Apart from the other glaring unmentioned ssue, this is an "interesting" pov from the director of a race equality think tank when her inexperience in race equalities issues was specifically cited as a problem by the two committees

Nuclear has had political consensus backing it for 20 years (since Blair's 2005 "back with a vengeance"). Hinkley Point C has had its CfD in place for 12 years. Weird to say the UK has focused on "expensive" tech in offshore wind, but then say the solution was a *more expensive* bit of tech.

Would you think from this that gas's share of electricity generation had in fact declined sharply in both absolute and % terms since 2010? We replaced coal not with more gas but by massive scale up of renewables, a major policy achievement!

Bit of irony here in that Israel has never defined its own territory, thus also fails to be a recognisable state on these criteria

One thing the "Hamas should just surrender and this is all over" misses is that Hamas does not hold ground. All of Gaza is under the effective control of the Israeli military - they simply choose not to provide security or governance or state infrastructure in any part of it.

One of the main types of person on Bluesky is a person who has written and published at least one book but sold disappointing quantities of that book. For some reason this type of person, which is neither a good nor a bad thing to be, defines the tone in a difficult to explain way.
