Youโ€™re welcome! Definitely give it a try! I found it reminded me a little of my days messing around in darkrooms - very enjoyable. Iโ€™m hoping to do a bit more of it when I get a chance on a bright sunny day (probably in spring/summer) ๐ŸŒž

I made this cyanotype print with #two pieces of lace. Fun technique to experiment with! ๐Ÿ’™ Historically interesting too - a botanist named Anna Atkins was a pioneer of this early form of photography & published the first book with (her) photographic illustrations in 1843.

I agree that fundamentally, good design should be effortless to use, and feel โ€œinvisibleโ€ - my dad worked as a telecoms engineer for decades said one of his bosses withheld user manuals for mobile phone handsets they wanted to test, saying it should be so intuitive that they arenโ€™t needed at all.

I fully appreciate how precious a resource the rain is - without it, things would be v different! As they say, if you want rainbows, you have to put up with a little rainโ€ฆ ๐ŸŒˆ

It was noticably hotter & drier in the summer here, so at least our reservoirs have a chance to refill now.

Pros & cons!

Overhead view of a โ€œlock-upโ€, with type set for letterpress printing. There is a mix of two styles: smaller, metal (cast) type in a gothic blackletter font and large (carved) wooden type with more contemporary, rounded letterforms.

The type is set in mirror image, so that when printed, it will read:
โ€œcreate
music
art
danceโ€

I had a lot of fun playing with this chunky vintage wooden type at a letterpress workshop hosted by Robert Smailโ€™s Printing Works, a Victorian-era industrial heritage museum run by @n-t-s.bsky.social in Innerleithen in the Scottish Borders.

Canโ€™t say for sureโ€ฆ but there was definitely some wintery magic in the air! โ„๏ธ The wee red door tucked away in the tree roots really charmed me. I was walking on a section of the Southern Upland Way in Galashiels (in the south of Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ). There are quite a few spots with fairy doors around here.

From my walk along the River Tweed on the edge of Galashiels today. Paths that my ancestors no doubt walked too, as my great-grandfatherโ€™s childhood home was just a little bit along the river at Galafoot.

I lived with an alcoholic. It ended *badly*. ๐Ÿ˜” That in turn made me question my own relationship w/ alcohol. I had been gradually reducing my intake over the years as a result, then last year I did Dry January, & (mostly) just kept going. All of 2025 I had 1๏ธโƒฃ drink! Today Iโ€™m exactly 333 days sober.

I had intended to post this yesterday but got a wee bit sidetracked (story of my life!). I remember the day I took the picture on a walk with my Canon DSLR in Leith Links, and thinking the light was so perfect on this beautiful rose by the allotments. ๐ŸŒน
