The number of people with a formal diagnosis of dementia in England increased from 427,176 in December 2022 to 498,221 in December 2024. As of December 2024, individuals over 65 years old made up 97% of all dementia diagnoses. Women accounted for the majority (62%) of all formal dementia diagnoses in December 2024.

Ever since, this been a special and favourite Christmas decoration. One I canβt help feeling has somehow, mysteriously, been gifted by my lovely deceased mum.

Mentioned she had bought me a Christmas ornament.
Then she asked me if we had definitely cleared the room & that the floor was completely clear. I replied, that yes we had.
Only, she said, she had walked into the room a few minutes agoβ¦. and sitting in the middle of the floor, was thisβ¦ 4/
No one, including me, saw the ornament, and she never for to give it to me.
After she died, we cleared the room and sent all the medical equipment and hospital bed back. The room and the floor was entirely clear.
My sister rang me a few days later. She was puzzled and asked if mum had 3/
Over the years family have bought me more of these, including my mum, to the pint where there is a tree full of them.
Fast forward to my late 30βs and in the October my mum is at home and dying of cancer. A few days before she died she told me she had a Christmas ornament for me. 2/
