Yep. When Top Gun came out on VHS, it was 75. Don't judge me. I was horny and 17.

This! It doesn't occur to me, but I'll try to remedy that!

Yes! My Patagonia carryon has backpack straps that pack away if you're using the shoulder strap instead.

Constitution day today, the nation's 250th next year... A democracy if we can keep it. I remember the Bicentennial celebration. I was young enough to not be aware of our failures. I'm no longer innocent and will never feel that kind of patriotism again.

Today's recommended reading: On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. I asked for the graphic edition for Christmas a couple of years ago, and my mom was baffled. She understands now.

September 11th β€” Bill Biggart Photographer

Photojournalist Bill Biggart died when the second tower collapsed on him on 9/11, but the film he shot that day and his flash card were recovered from the debris and developed, along with his flash card.

You can see his amazing photos of 9/11, the last photos he took while alive, here:

We can, in fact, oppose ALL political violence, no matter the form, source, or reasoning.

Genocide (& supporting it) is bad.
Ethnic cleansing is bad.
Murdering people in a boat off Venezuela is bad.
Murdering people for Existing While Black is bad.
Shooting someone whose views are repellant is bad.

ACCT Philly does have a foster network. I partnered with Stray Kitty Rescue to get a time stamped cat pulled because they would only release to a rescue.

The loss of living memory is a huge problem! It also applies to the realities and atrocities of war, the deprivations of the Great Depression, and so many other things.

My grandma was a tough old bird who made it to 89, with heart damage from scarlet fever as a child.

New Mexico has issued a public health order that removes federal restrictions to COVID-19 vaccine access so that pharmacies in New Mexico can vaccinate people of all ages and risk profiles. Every state need to do this!

Philly is currently taking a huge funding hit to its mass transit system. The state legislature don't want to fund a system which provides incredible service relative to the pittance its given. If the January cuts happen, it'll be a disaster. Amtrak says they will also cut service.

My mentor in college decades ago had two bumper stickers on his truck: 1. "Politicians are much like diapers. Both should be changed often and for the same reason." 2. "Save farmland. We can't eat townhouses.*"

*We need dense housing now that we didn't in the 1990s.
