The obsession with “scores” is the surest mark of an intellectual lightweight I can think of.

I’m convinced that wading too far into the right-wing culture war stuff breaks all ability to actually understand media.

(Privately I think that worries about “transhumanism” are coded transphobia, but that’s to the side)

So a couple weeks ago I saw someone griping that the SNW zombie episode was “transhumanist” even though it was explicitly about the dangers of doing DNA hybrids. And then this week shows that, yeah, it’s dangerous.

I’m honestly way more concerned about this than about a blue jeans ad.

When I met Teri Hatcher, Dean Cain was at that same con and they did a panel.

She was trying to talk about the women she's met who were positively influenced by her Lois when they were kids.

He kept talking over her to say "The great thing about our show was there was no messaging like today."

I don’t like the plot resolution at all. It’s funny but it’s also just—surprise cameo swooping in to explain the plot. Could have been more elegant.

I liked the show a lot, though.

This show reminds me of the late-lamented PERRY MASON in some ways and the not-well-loved Malkovich ABC MURDERS in others.

People need to let go of the notion of linear naughtiness. Old timey people did stuff that would make our hair curl. We do stuff that would shock them. Dirty pictures have been a thing every time and everywhere.

When I brought up the availability of adult material in the 1890s and 1900s compared to innocent ankle shots in the movies, I got quite a few people proclaiming that dirty stuff *must* have been harder to obtain.
