Think of HERVH as an ancient โvirus scrapโ in our DNAโnot GMO. In early embryos, it wakes up at pluripotency, not to make viruses but to turn on antiviral โguardsโ (like APOBEC enzymes). So itโs less โvirus attackโ and more โviral parts repurposed to help protect our embryos. Cool repurposing!
