Best wishes for mega sales!
13.02.2025 22:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's expensive, to keep wide readers happy. I tried KU. Once. I made no headway at all. I don't write stories that neatly fit down the middle of a sub-genre, so the whale-readers give me a hard pass.
02.02.2025 15:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"Mostly" ... do you find KU and non-KU readers get mad because books they want to read are/are not in KU? That's always been my fear.
01.02.2025 17:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I wish these indie author services would think it through when they make casual changes to their apps. I have over 200 books. If I have to go in and change *every single book* because of their update, that's two full days of work!!
31.01.2025 15:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Me, too. Remission for two years now, and no one can tell me how long it will last, so I'm getting on with living. And writing.
21.01.2025 16:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Emerging from my crushing deadline. Blinking... I have some catchup to do!
14.01.2025 17:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0An amazing and super fun show last night:

Art graphic with the logo of TBRCon. Showing profile pictures of each author participating in the panel. Ai Jiang, Taran Hunt, Andrea Hairston, Tracy Cooper-Posey, and Allen Stroud. Artificial Intelligence in Sci-Fi Over the Years. Friday Jan. 24th at 1pm CST/7pm GMT.
With the rise in AI, do you wonder how AI was viewed before it was real? @TBRCon2025 brings together authors to talk all about AI in sci-fi as far back as we dare to venture! With @tracycp.bsky.social (mod), @aijiang.bsky.social, Allen Stroud, @taranhunt.bsky.social, & @andreahairston.bsky.social!
02.01.2025 16:00 β π 17 π 9 π¬ 0 π 0Back at the desk after an unofficial break over Christmas. Now I have to be hyper-vigilant and ensure I don't goof off because after a few days away from the keyboard, my writing muscle has already atrophied.
Sometimes, breaks just aren't worth it!
On the positive side, this morning, when I got up, my inbox was stuffed full of sympathy emails from readers. Mental hugs.
A reaffirmation that while humanity in general sucks, most people do not suck at all. Quite the opposite.
I'm off to answer each and every one of them....
Yeah, it sucks. But thanks.
I was expecting too much, I think.
And when I sent out the emails to all my reader lists, telling them what I had to do, a rash of unsubscribes started. I guess I know why they were on my email lists....
I feel sick. And tired. No wonder that's a cliche.
Thanks. Lesson learned. I won't do this again. The world has just got...nastier.
The a-hat who complained about now all his free ebooks were on different bookfunnel accounts just emailed again to ask that we consolidate all his accounts, and implied it was bad customer service to refuse.
I'm actually going to turn off the coupon code (which was supposed to run until NYE), and send out an email to my readers and explain why.
This...just fucking sucks.
..and still more asshats trying to game the system so they can get more than one book.
That's it. I'm not doing this again. I'm pissed right now, but give me a few hours and I'll mourn the descent of decency.
It was heartbreaking, but we figured it was just a small fraction of the readers who loved the gift.
So we set up again for Christmas day this year and gave out the coupon....
...and I've had precisely three thank you emails, a lot of complaints about boxed sets and collections not being included
For over a decade, I have given away a book of your choice from my catalog, any pen name. It is my Christmas gift to readers and I loved doing it and chatting with readers who emailed me and told me what they picked.
Last year, assholes figured out a loophole and downloaded dozens of books.
It does, but SFWA is not in Canada.
27.12.2024 23:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Alas, there's only so many rooms you can leave before you run out of rooms. Especially in Canada, where authors who write space opera <clears throat> have no professional support except what one can find online.
26.12.2024 14:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Aaaaah! Now the pressure of Christmas is over, I can relax and get back to work.
And enjoy the left overs, which always taste better.
Happy turkey day, everyone! Enjoy!
25.12.2024 13:58 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0New computer is up and running! Man, it is *fast*! I hadn't realized how slow the old desktop had got. And now my laptop is looking stodgy, too!
21.12.2024 16:30 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just listened to Carol of the Bells - John Williams' version. There are certain pieces of music that make the hair on the top of my head try to stand up. Carol of the Bells is one of them.
Ludovico Einaudi's "Life" is another.
Nice idea. Yes, if you've got the stories there. Cool.
I give every subscriber a coupon for a free book from my store. I've been doing it nearly 10 years now. It's almost a tradition.
I like watching my site server collapse under the strain every year. LOL!!
Readers love it, too.
Ah! You do things a bit differently from me for Christmas, I see. :)
