Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

The creeping anxiety that starts on 8/1 is very real.

Use and adapt our drafted comment below or write your own!

I strongly oppose the proposed repeal of the Endangerment Finding. The science is clear: greenhouse gases unequivocally harm our health and our environment. Weakening or repealing the Endangerment Finding will make it harder, and costlier to protect our communities from pollution and from the effects of climate change.

Optional: I care about this issue because [insert your personal reasoning here -e.g. "my father has COPD," "I recently lost my home to a devastating hurricane"]

I urge you to keep the Endangerment Finding in place and to apply science to protect our health and our environment for generations to come.

****Remember, if you want to cite research to upload the paper as a file.****

Yes, it helps! Not only in litigation (as noted above), but the EPA is required by law to respond to public feedback in the introduction to the finalized regulation or rule. I just created infographics on the public comment process a couple days ago (pinned to my profile).

This type of dehumanizing language helps build acceptance of increasingly harmful practices. I was worried when I first heard his rhetoric when he started campaigning in 2015, and I'm *extremely concerned now.

It's been difficult to watch the arguments for this (and other) policies be weaponized against the very communities they were created to protect.

Reproductive Health Services The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is proposing to reinstate the full exclusion on abortions and abortion counseling from the medical benefits package, which was removed in 2022. Before that time...

Folks, you can submit a public comment on this proposed rule via the federal register. The VA is required to respond to public input. Public comments also support potential legal challenges. www.federalregister.gov/documents/20...

There's a $500/day fine for taking this action. The Dems who fled the state are remaining out of state until 8/19.

(They also risk arrest).

Federal research funding cuts are not about saving money. It's about control. Control over universities and control over the public. Who benefits from cutting the limbs off of one of our economic drivers? Who benefits from cutting University budgets and hence access to higher education?

SCIMaP Visualizes the True Cost of Science Funding Cuts Built by scientists, a data-driven, interactive map shows the nationwide consequences of shrinking science budgets.

Federal research dollars are an investment in our communities. For each dollar of federal grant money, there's an estimated $5-$20 return to the public. Many new businesses also launch from federally-funded university research.

Also just want to take a second to point out that it's really...odd...that there is a submission portal for people to send the government their ideas for *DE*regulation. This is quite telling. :/ The foxes are guarding the henhouse. Deep sigh. www.regulations.gov

What do I say in my comment? Clearly state whether or support or oppose the rule or regulation. Say why you support or oppose the change- this can be a personal story, a concern you have, or drawn from your professional expertise. You can sign up on the federal register to get updates.

Public comments on proposed federal rules and regulations: Tips for making effective comments.

Public comments on proposed federal rules and regulations: Tips for making effective comments.

About federal rule changes. Anytime a federal agency changes the way they implement a law, they first public the proposed changes online in the federal register (federalregister.gov). Federal agencies are required by law to collect public comments prior to rule changes.

Who can comment? Anyone can (and should) comment! Expertise is not required, and, agencies are required by law to respond to public comments in their introduction to the change. Public comments are typically accepted in a 30-60 day period.

Why comment? Your comments make a difference by: 1. Putting public support (or lack of) on record. 2. Pressuring federal agencies to modify a proposed rule or regulation. 3. Getting evidence on record that can be used in lawsuits against the federal action. Public comments are a way to engage in participatory democracy.

We are entering another public comment period- looks like lots of environmental regulatory changes are open for comment right now (looking at you, climate activists)! I put together some infographics on public comments- what they are, how to do them, and why it's important.

I haven't read anything suggesting people believe STEM is "morally corrupting," but rather, the Humanities can help foster deeper ethical principles; empirical research also finds art course integration improves STEM innovation. Side note, some social sciences are also STEM.
