We saw a few in the Highlands of Scotland a couple summers ago, all by themselves, away from towns. And oddly, on some roads going into the mountains not far from San Fran. You can see Silicon Valley. But no cell service! (This was pre-Trump)

Wondered the same thing! Is it still in service? There are still a few operating phone booths here and there tho I don’t think I’ve seen any in the Yukon.

Whitehorse resident here. After weeks of ‘wish it would warm up’ , today after rain (rain!) on lots of snow and a drop back below freezing , a collective ‘no, not like that’ echoes across the southern Yukon…

Add the loss of The Pit and things are untenable. Tho I did hear that shortly after the water from the burst mains froze, both a skating rink and a curling rink were constructed. Only in Dawson…

Ah. The beading equivalent is to rip it out and redo it. Hard to do but sometimes necessary.

How do you know when it’s finished? When I bead I draw out the pattern in advance. When it looks like the drawing it is done.

Yikes. 2021 was a bad year for floods!

I always put spinach in lasagne. Yes also had it that way in my house growing up. A change from tradition tho is I went away from ground beef and use Italian sausage instead. Game changer

Ditto. One of the great joys of living in the Yukon is going outside to play in the snow. -40 or +5 slush fests get in the way of that.

Fingers crossed it stays below freezing. Don’t like those ‘warm snaps’ when it goes to +5 for a week in January.

But like you, also wondering where we’re going to put it all if this continues.

To think that last year we had almost no snow from January on. Who knows maybe that will happen again. While it would be good not to have floods, the good news is that the forests will have a goodly amount of moisture to start the summer with

I grew up just south of Wpg and remember when they tried that 4 digit thing for a while. It didn’t catch on. I think it was part of the metric conversion? The C stayed. The watts per second or whatever that was did not.

New ‘holy crap it’s cold’ level unlocked this morning. The propane in the big tank (for furnace&hotwater) started to gel. Too cold for too long. Got the tank heater on just in time. Haven’t used that in the 16 yrs we’ve lived here
