So much of American political discourse in my lifetime has been marked by narratives about who the “real” Americans are. What I love so much about Mamdani’s campaign is that it treats every single person in NYC as a “real” New Yorker, equally deserving of having a voice.

To the extent policy does much of anything for voters & beyond, it's a heuristic that signals having a plan to accomplish the goal. Policy details won't persuade anyone b/c EVEN CANDIDATES DON'T KNOW what good policy is without being told by experts they trust.
