There are real Abenaki in Vermont, and they are affiliated with Odanak and Wolinak. There has been extensive documentation of the history of Abenaki people in this region and the VT groups arose during the 1970s essentially based on vibes. Their genealogy has been well researched as non native

For what it’s worth, Vermont as a state had the highest percentage of Harris votes of any state in 2024. This article is about a few very rural towns where few people live, and that tend to be similar to other small rural areas in other states that lean more conservative.

I am a VTer and Bernie has never been in state govt and didnt try universal HC here. The actual story is that a specific form of single payer was studied here (and never instituted) and discarded bc it would be expensive for such a small state.
