Letterers are incredible artists and should be treated/paid better.

Subtitling pay across the industry is miserable right now — CR is paying above average, last I’ve heard.

It’s typically based on minutes of video, not words or hours.

There’s a lot I could say theory-wise in this, especially when it vibes to improving equivalent experience in the target audience. I’m devastated to hear CR is moving away from their incredible subs… and I expect it is to cut costs.

CR’s attention to detail and stylized subtitle typetting put them ahead of the entire business and could have set a new standard for quality in subtitling.

Here’s hoping they return to their better ways soon!

Why did Crunchyroll’s subtitles just get worse? A small change to operations may undermine a key differentiator for the anime streamer.

Me: "Yes, because I'd been carefully trained at home to be quiet around the People Who Were Bothered. But then I went to into the world and found that most people weren't! So now I'm more myself than ever."

He's a problem solver by trade; so am I. He saw a 'problem' in the family (me getting loud when I'm excited) and wanted to find a 'solution'.

I had to convince him that no, this is just who I am. In the moment, if it's bothering him, please tell me, and I'll lower my voice!

But this is me.

A few months ago, my dad pulled me aside for a 'serious talk'. He'd noticed that I 'always spoke very loud and it bothered some people', and with all the love in his heart, asked if it was because of mental health or god forbid, drugs.

Me: "Dad, I'm... I'm just loud."

A reminder to all my fellow cosplayers if they haven’t figured it out yet: your life will be WAY happier if your reaction to “someone is wearing the same costume as me” is taking the spider-man point picture and screaming at each other about loving the character and the worse points of wearing it
