Pals, I'm sorry. I was feeling better and stopped reading my dumb little books at night instead of getting on the internet and then stuff got stupider and I'll go read now.

I cannot emphasize enough that if you feel sad, donating money makes you feel better. Local food bank, diaper bank, mutual aid, a favorite charity, cancer research, or a local news site like @thecity.nyc; there are so many options. Money is the most efficient donation. Or sign up to volunteer.

a digital drawing of a gray cat with a capped eye and studded collar, leaning forward and bleeding from the nose. It looks at the viewer with defiance or determination. Text around it says β€œget killed eight times/ come back nine”. The red border around the image has two cars, arrows, knives, and poison bottles, numbered to match its deaths.

I was just leafing through 1725 occult tome The Secret Magic of Abramelin the Mage in search of scary invocations for the BOOK, and I came across this list of subordinate spirits to the princes of Hell.

I read some more stuff. Remember You Will Die is a novel in obituaries, which was a neat conceit. Enjoyed them all, would recommend to varying degrees.

A photo of a poem titled "You Are Here" by Mira Jacob. The text of the poem follows:
"Leaving this here at you have it to come back to today. This country has always been brutal, and there has always been an us who have been fighting it. The beauty that comes out of that fight, the way our love for each other changes the world around us, is real and glorious and unrelenting. It cannot be caged, tamed, erased, or lost. You are part of that tradition. I know you are starting to know this, but you really know it now. Art is making something no one asked for - not because they didn't need it, but because they didn't know they needed it until you made it, until it helped them breathe and dream and find a way forward. It's part of a map that shows us how we get out of this place. Keep going. Do your part. Love you - Mom."

to john.faulk, thomas.ryan, sumner.waring, bcc: Amy, bcc: George

Dear Mr. Faulk, Mr. Ryan, and Mr. Waring,

My mother is buried in Rosehill Cemetery, a Dignity property in Chicago, which your company manages. My father also holds a reserved plot there. I was deeply disturbed to learn that today, armed and masked federal agents were using the cemetery grounds as a staging area for immigration enforcement operations in the surrounding community.

I want to be clear: I do not expect SCI or Dignity to take political positions. What I do expect is that you uphold the dignity, sanctity, and safety of the spaces entrusted to your care. Cemeteries are sacred groundβ€”places of mourning, reflection, and remembrance. Allowing armed, unidentified agents in unmarked vehicles to occupy that space desecrates it. It frightens visitors, community members, and employees alike, and it betrays the trust of the families who have chosen Rosehill as their loved ones’ final resting place.

As a private entity, SCI and Dignity have the legal right to prohibit ICE, CBP, and other federal enforcement personnel from using your property for such operations without a judicial warrant. I urge you to exercise that right and to adopt clear policies ensuring that no government agency may use any cemetery grounds under your management for enforcement or staging purposes. Doing so is not a political actβ€”it is a moral and professional obligation to the deceased, their families, and your own staff.

Many of those interred at Rosehill, and the families who visit them, are immigrants themselves. To allow their resting place to be used in acts that terrorize the living descendants of immigrant communities is a profound moral failure. I ask that you take immediate steps to ensure that this never happens again and communicate publicly your commitment to protecting the sanctity of these grounds.

I am requesting a written response outlining yo…
