I really like the phrase "Kavanaugh stop." It's not a Terry stop, because a Terry stop is short and based on reasonable suspicion of a crime. A Kavanaugh stop, by contrast, is when masked goons kidnap a person for speaking Spanish.

The first main boss you fight in act 2 (after exploring to the top of Choral Chamber?) is quite easy, but I think is one of the most memorable and enchanting in the game due to the aesthetics and rhythm

I got 100% of the items in Silksong between my previous workout and this one so…well my routines aren’t amazing, but it felt nice to try to start getting into shape for playing dance games again

I think this is often rapidly reduced to a difficulty conversation, but I'm not sure that's the point. How long a boss should take me to learn doesn't have a right or wrong answer. Whether I get to spend that time doing the things that make this game special is the important part.

Which makes me feel like--if there was less to engage with on the way through the game, it would simply have weakened it. If there were more times that I was stuck for longer and more likely to be frustrated...that might be simply unnecessary, because what I was already getting was the good part.

Whenever something took effort to get past (a boss where I had to learn the attacks, a zone where I had to take the trash mobs seriously, a strategy question of what build or route to try), I was _in communication_ with what the game was doing in a way that provided the heart of the experience.

I don't have a take on Silksong tuning, but I do have a personal reaction, which is that it felt like it hit a sweet spot that I really appreciate. The level of opposition that it continually presented rarely dipped into frustration, but was enough to maintain a real dance between me and the game.

It’s also like that on fet, so e.g. events have to have clever names and whatnot. And it’s like the only thing they don’t have in their giant list of role labels

Not to mention the next Heart boss also (the one by Grand Gate)
