Barnard welcomes all opinions. Unless you are an anti-colonialist student. Or staff. Or faculty. Views are not those of the college, except the Board has my back and I control the purse strings, so actually they are.

Digging into the speech codes that affect students. Michigan gets a yellow b/c it has a sexual harassment policy, and a policy that prohibits threatening language against staff. Seems like a very tangible representation of some tradeoffs when it comes to speech.

The University requires that employees maintain a standard of performance and conduct that contributes to the continuing excellence and orderly and efficient operation of the University. The University, in its sole discretion, will determine whether an employeeβs performance, conduct or behavior meets this standard.
For example, U Michigan has some language that they can punish faculty, including firing if they violate the "orderly and efficient operation of the University."
Seems very broad!
So if faculty post something that fuels an online pile-on of the university, can I be fired? Does Fire track this?

They are only doing this because these capitulations to trans personhood have only detracted from the fundamental mission of a college: to train students in dealing with difficulty.

No we don't. No one should be murdered. But more bigots aren't needed.Nope.
A disgustingly hypocritical piece by the President of my alma mater.
This is yet another op-ed sheβs written that alienates her own students.
As a proud alum, Barnard students deserve better. At the very least, Rosenbury needs better PR.
I canceled my NYT subscription years ago (during the first Trump admin, how fun to be back here), but I got this in my inbox with a sanctimonious email basically as long at the piece itself. I loved Barnard. It has broken my heart over the past two years.
What a disgrace you are, Laura Rosenbury.
