Heba's school uses a 'storytelling ' structure - highly visual, fun things rather than highly structured, rule-based, tick-box learning. Lots of practical learning rather than intellectual tasks throughout. Outdoor play.
The school is the highest attaining school.

A larger and tidier grid pattern, using the same principles as the first one. It's an 11 by 11 grid with each cell containing nested circles in colourful ink. There are smaller circles at the vertices that are connected by thin black lines. There are tiny black Morse code letters drawn in the circ lol es as described in the post.

Repetitive pattern doodle in the out of date diary today. Just diagonal lines of repeating shapes & lines.

This kinda doodle also looks nice when you scale it up & make it neat.

The shapes in these big drawing contain tiny Morse code letters that spell 'repetition is relaxing'. I love drawing CW.

100% this.

We need to resource good quality support the same way we approach things like sexual health as a community service.

A simpler screener to identify areas of need and then trail periods with professional judgement.

It would transform lives & almost certainly be economically positive too

I can't be there in person to speak today due to a situation here - my grateful thanks to @at-autism for their understanding. So I shall be doing my bit on social media, where I can.

Today, cheering on the speakers at #AutismArtOfThePossible conference. They'll be discussing how to change people's attitudes and views... how to get people into homes, not hospitals.... how to embrace change in systems... and Damian Milton will be talking about participatory research/

Heba's school offers a flexible uniform policy for the children, being understanding of different family budgets and children's sensory needs.
Enabling children to learn at their own pace, but together - not dividing into low, mid and high expectation classes/

Heba talks about how to make it easier for an autistic child (or any other child) to enjoy school. Giving them a doable start time and being understanding if today is a day they really can't handle attending for part or all of it, for good reason. Compassion, not punishment, works much better/

Heba Al-Jayoosi is the first main speaker. Heba is Assistant Head, and inclusion & research leader at Mayflower Primary School in Tower Hamlets, London.
Key points - really getting to know the children and their families. Thinking about their strengths and what they love, first and foremost/

One good thing about having ADHD, is that your brain moves a million miles an hour, enabling one to get a lot done!!

However,

One bad thing about having ADHD, is that your brain moves a million miles an hour, hindering one from getting anything done.

Badenoch wants to eliminate ‘rip off degrees’ like English. The usual philistine crap that a degree is just about work. The mission to create the stupidest nation on earth. And counterproductive. Young people will work for years. They’ll retrain endlessly. A degree can help them learn how to learn

The Trump administration plans to mint a $1 coin featuring Trump’s image, yet another illegal move. This violates the 1866 law, which states that only deceased individuals may appear on U.S. currency.

It's been two weeks since Adelita Grijalva was elected and Mike Johnson has still refused to seat her, unlike in past cases where he swore in new members within 24 hours.

There cannot be one set of rules for Rs and another for Ds.

Also, release the damn Epstein files already.

The Fear Factor The right and the left both use fear to drive politics, but the difference in how is striking

These are scary times, and it’s okay to feel afraid. The challenge is learning how to respond instead of retreating. This piece offers insight into managing that fear and transforming it into courage, understanding, and tangible steps forward.

Society spends far more money trying to find the causes of autism than it does helping autistic people live better lives.
We don’t need to be “understood” in a lab.
We need to be understood as human beings, right here, right now. 1/3

RAJU: You swore in 2 GOP members during pro forma session. Why not swear in Grijalva? Does it have to do w/her signature on Epstein petition?

JOHNSON: It has nothing to do with that. We'll swear her in when everybody is back

R: Why not now?

J: Uh - we'll schedule it, I guess, as soon as she wants

This is Adelita Grijalva.

She was elected to Congress two weeks ago, officially making her the final vote needed to force the release of the Epstein files.

She has still not been sworn in because Mike Johnson refuses to do so.

Not as great a threat as natural stupidity.

Artificial Intelligence: Not as great a threat as natural stupidity.

AI didn’t invent greed.
It didn’t underfund hospitals, start wars, or build systems that burn people out.
Humans did that, proudly, stubbornly, and with “common sense.”

The real danger isn’t the rise of machines.
It’s the refusal of people in power to think.

We are I believe often silenced by an oppressive society that disbelieves misunderstands & bullies us

I feel an endemic ideology persists that we are a lesser broken people needing 2b fixed or extinguished

We belong equally & innately as a rightful part of humanity
