Colleges don’t know what the hell they’re talking about when they say they’re training students for careers in AI, but this is it. Figuring out how to tweak every form of human activity or interaction to bend toward the algorithmic capabilities of a shitty guess machine. Sounds like a great career.

I’m not a part of this org, but as an art historian, the suggestion that you would use GenAI to make fake images to ‘illustrate’ your work is infuriating. Real artworks exist. You can just ask one of your art history colleagues.

It has been the honor of my life to serve as Commissioner of BLS alongside the many dedicated civil servants tasked with measuring a vast and dynamic economy. It is vital and important work and I thank them for their service to this nation.

Bad, but not close to an excruciating death while losing your mind. Remember, basically everyone got measles before the vaccine (not downplaying it, just that it's nowhere even close to rabies). I think, say, polio, smallpox, etc. beat out measles for second place!

I’ve now read my alma mater Brown University’s agreement with the Administration, and I’m deeply troubled by numerous provisions in it, but the larger problem is that bargaining with lawless authoritarians gives them legitimacy. They aren’t settling a proper investigation, this was a shakedown. /1

Brown's faculty senate should consider abolishing course evals, if they're just going to be used as fodder for witch hunts against vulnerable faculty.
