Hey, so as a veteran and incident responder I need to warn you to pay attention to something in America.

The human brain is resilient. While you're watching kids get dragged away from the parents and people being beaten in the streets, you're accumulating trauma but also being desensitized.

The Majority AI View - Anil Dash A blog about making culture. Since 1999.

Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

Stopped playing about 10 years ago and never looked back. Still get asked every year. Instead I do a league where you pick every game every week incl. playoffs. Much better test of your football knowledge and gives you a reason to be invested in the outcome of every game.

Can I just state as a fellow Sportsball fan & Lake Erie Friend (Lions going on 30+ years) I appreciate your Bills posts, and Josh Allen has my MVP vote. See you in the Superb Owl (let a mf dream)!

Like character bans in some competitive video games, you could have player bans per game. I like the way Marvel Rivals does it in pro league, teams go back and forth and also protect two (obv protect your QB if he's good). Tbh I think it'd be a net negative, but the metagaming would be interesting

AI Is a Mass-Delusion Event Three years in, one of AI’s enduring impacts is to make people feel like they’re losing it.

Hello. I wrote a nice long essay about AI and this very strange moment where we're constantly told we're living in the dawn of a strange new future but the only thing that's actually clear is that everyone feels pretty unmoored and uncertain. I hope you'll read it

FEMA Acting Administrator Richardson, re: Texas flooding, "I can't see anything we did wrong." ... "It was a model, particularly at FEMA, the region, and the state level, that continuity was a model of how disasters should be handled."

Presented without comment.

We quit because the poverty wages were unsustainable. Not to mention the burnout.

I love journalism, but working local was like being in an abusive relationship.

Why stick around when I know I can make twice as much for one tenth the stress in another field? Life's too short.

I'm convinced this is a genuine problem. The reality of Trump is so cartoonishly, comically awful that an absolutely neutral description sounds like a hit piece, even to me. So if you're at all predisposed to think of press as biased, factual reporting looks like some relentless vendetta.

Reality Check I'm sick and god-damn tired of this! I have written tens of thousands of words about this and still, to this day, people are babbling about the "AI revolution" as the sky rains blood and crevices open...

Newsletter: I am sick and god damn tired of everybody pretending that generative AI is the next big thing. The media is complicit in accepting fantastical nonsense - both in the numbers put out by OpenAI and the silly jobs created by Anthropic - and it has to stop.

My latest theory: while I don’t think it’s the explicit priority, support for DOGE is almost entirely about sexual strategy.
