Update: DOGE quietly removes hundreds of staff from NPS. Press release linked in bio
On Sunday, hundreds of NPS employees at parks across the country were “consolidated” to DOI. Positions affected include: park spokespeople media specialists exhibit designers IT professionals DOI Sec. Burgum has delegated his authority to DOGE staffer and former oil executive Tyler Hassen. This puts DOGE in charge of all NPS communications.
We don’t know exactly how many employees have been removed from the agency. (Internal comms suggested 1,600— 9% of the remaining NPS workforce.) We don’t know what this means for our colleagues. But we do know that this is a tactic to hide the continued dismantling of the NPS.
Help your fellow public lands supporters get the uncensored story. Comment on official park social media posts to spread the word about @ResistanceRangers (Instagram + BlueSky) and ResistanceRangers.org. NPS employees cannot safely share these accounts ourselves.
The hits keep coming, y’all. In a new move in their continued dismantling of the National Park Service, the Trump administration, hundreds of employees were removed from their position as rangers. Employees were told Friday afternoon they were being “consolidated” to the Department of the Interior.
