This is a valid point. The debt is a real problem. I wonder where we need to list it along with the things costing lives day to day in our province? A balance of debt repayment and strategic investment I guess.

I think any competent government, acting in the best interest of the people, can solve these problems, as well as others, with an billion dollars a year to spend.

I’ll start:
1. Deep poverty
2. Housing crisis
3. Hospital wait times
4. Food insecurity
5. Low literacy rates
6. Emergency Shelter Capacity issues.

I know there are others, and I’m actively asking people to add to this list.

This is a test of how useful this app might be to me. I’m sitting here thinking about what positive change could be made in #nlpoli with just one year of this new billion dollar deal. In other words, what solvable problems should we see tackled with a billion dollars to spend…

Basic Income NL Working towards a Basic Income for Newfoundland and Labrador with a Policy Paper, stakeholder engagement, and storytelling.

As the Government of NL talk about the $200 billion they expect, it’s a good time to share this paper on Basic Income which is now imminently affordable. If they want me to believe that this deal “changes everything”, I’d like to see their decisions with our money also change. www.basicincomenl.ca
