I tried getting a job, but it wasn’t easy with that sum-bitch Reagan in office.

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."

What the heck! I took this photo while I was there. My son and I were curious why there were so many vultures on this baseball field. Now I have so many questions…

Thanks for posting this! I was just there learning about the Saltville Massacre. The museum is great. So much history in this area. I was disappointed to see this sign, and realize this is the only history some care about

Federal agents invaded even the offices of The Crisis and the National Association for the advancement of colored people and asked searching questions: " just what, after all, were our objects and activities?” I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, “We are seeking to have the constitution of the United states thoroughly and completely enforced.” It took some ingenuity, even for Southerners, to make treason out of that.

How W. E. B. Du Bois responded to government policing of "anti-American" sentiment during the 1910s:

"I took great satisfaction in being able to sit back in my chair and answer blandly, 'We are seeking to have the Constitution of the United States thoroughly and completely enforced.' ”

“It is you, the Americans, by such bad deeds, who push the red men to do mischief. You do not want unity among the tribes, and you destroy it. You try to make differences between them. We, their leaders, wish them to unite and consider their land the common property of all, but you try to keep them from this.” — Tecumseh

How can we have confidence in the white people? When Jesus Christ came upon the earth, you killed him, the son of your own God, you nailed him up! You thought he was dead, but you were mistaken. And only after you thought you killed him did you worship him, and start killing those who would not worship him. What kind of a people is this for us to trust? Quote by Shawnee leader Tecumseh

Pre-Columbian North America was in many ways a more advanced society beyond what European settlers lived. The largest platform mound at Cahokia is as big as the Great Pyramid. These people perfected corn based agriculture while the English were sleeping with livestock & eating gruel.

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

we should stop letting the police departments in supposedly progressive cities use poor communities as policy labs for dangerous technology designed to incarcerate as many of those people as possible

Fetterman is a fascist and what he is claiming is fascist propaganda. This is a mass normalizing event meant to muddy the waters around the word fascism in an effort to neuter its effectiveness and give permission to their followers to embrace the label.
America is accelerating towards violence

A child on a bike looking towards the same intersection from the previous photo, except now the water has receded and been replaced by mud. Cars enter an intersection with no working traffic lights. A mud-soaked bale of cardboard from a recycling plant upstream sits in the middle. Now that the river water has gone, we can see that it was probably four or five feet deep here during the flooding

A year later, the firefighters whose heroism was so widely praised are badly underpaid, but there's plenty of money for police to harass the homeless. Helene survivors live out of tents while glossy tv segments shout from the largest mansion in America that wealthy tourists are welcome back #avlnews

Only an administration intent on committing war crimes in the present and future would stoop to calling Wounded Knee a "battle" rather than what it truly was: a massacre of over 250 Lakotas, mainly women, children, and the elderly. 1/

Again, this is a broad coalition of people across the ideological spectrum whose top concern is making sure everyone rues and laments the “Woke Times” forever. It’s very much akin to the myths around “Negro misrule” in Reconstruction, which justified Jim Crow.

Not too late to register for this Indigenous led Rights of Nature conference tomorrow. RoN is a movement that seeks to give legal protections & personhood status for things western society doesnt often consider, like the health of a river itself. IMO this conference is a historic event in N America.

Context: City hall adopted a corrupt rate scale for Asheville's aging water system that charged big business *less* the more they pumped. So locals got gouged and repairs/upgrades lagged.

System failures, especially in winter 2022-23, showed need for disaster reserves. #avlgov put aside none.
