Can’t sleep thinking about the state of our fascist country.

fwiw, “cheap goods from china” really understates the high quality of manufacturing you can get from chinese suppliers these days. also, we can have real prosperity with pro labor economy and a generous social insurance state but they don’t want that!

This is part of what’s so insane. As they talk about re-shoring and manufacturing they are actively trying to destroy an entire us manufacturing industry that already exists.

In lieu of that, I’ve decided to drop some book recs that do what I cannot. I hope that these can help educate and open your mind about the state of the world and what we, as American and global citizens, can do about it.

I’d write a really long caption about my thoughts and feelings about the current state of the world and country, but I don’t think I’d be able to succinctly, factually, and emotionally get my points across.

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

So perhaps all the center-left pundit types who joined in the DEI pile-on were not in fact responding to public opinion, but were merely laundering their own reactionary instincts in a way that resolved cognitive dissonance?

So what?

Republicans don't care. They have power. They flex it when they have it. They will literally tell Dems and America: "OK, try to stop us. You can't. Cry harder, Libs!" and then laugh.

This is the next 4, 8, 12 years...unless...we understand what we're up against.
