As a Californian, I’m infuriated that both @schiff.senate.gov and @padilla.senate.gov voted for our country to remain complicit in genocide.

Materials Managers at KTLA have voted unanimously to join IATSE and Local 700. Though most KTLA techs have been union-represented since 1956, this group had not. This follows Nexstar’s refusal to voluntarily recognize the union and an aggressive anti-union campaign. Read 👉 https://loom.ly/X7slIJw

Editors Guild Protests Against Nonfiction Producer Story Syndicate At Tribeca Premiere Of OceanGate Submersible Documentary ‘Titan’

EXCLUSIVE: The Motion Picture Editors Guild (IATSE Local 700) has staged a protest against nonfiction production company Story Syndicate outside the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of its OceanGate submersible documentary Titan.

Audience members were greeted outside the Village East by Angelika theater Friday evening by guild members distributing fliers that call attention to Story Syndicate’s “anti-union conduct” and put pressure on management amid contentious negotiations.

The MPEG brought charges of Unfair Labor Practices against Story Syndicate before the National Labor Relations Board in March, accusing the Harry & Meghan producers of refusal to bargain and bad faith bargaining.

“This company brands itself as a champion of progressive filmmaking,” Alan Heim, ACE, President of Motion Picture Editors Guild, said in a statement to Deadline. “But when it comes to honoring the rights of the very workers who bring these stories to life, their actions tell a different story. Editors deserve respect, security, and a contract that reflects their value.”

He continued: “We support bold nonfiction storytelling, but the treatment of workers behind the camera should be just as bold, just as fair, and just as progressive.”

The MPEG and the Writers Guild of America East won their joint effort to unionize producers and editorial employees at Story Syndicate in 2023. Since then, the MPEG says, management has “repeatedly delayed negotiations, backtracked on offers it had previously placed on the table, and refused to budge from outrageous positions calculated to kill the prospect of a negotiated agreement.”

The union also accuses Story Syndicate of insisting upon retaining the right to cut employees’ weekly pay without cause or warning.

This union action against the company comes about six months after the Editors Guild and the Writers Guild of America East jointly petitioned Story Syndicate to finalize a fair deal. At the time, more than 250 members of the unions called on the company to “be the industry leaders they are and set a precedent others can follow to create a truly inclusive and transparent work environment.”

“Long delays, proposals that are out of line with industry standards, and refusals to respond to important proposals would not reflect well on the company’s stated principles,” read the petition, which included signatures from Lilly Wachowski, John Walsh, Tom Fontana, and Josh Gondelman.

Story Syndicate workers won union recognition nearly two years ago. But these @mpeg700.bsky.social members still don’t have a fair contract!

We stand with these workers at Tribeca demanding respect, security, and wages that reflect their value.

DAVID IS RELEASED and with his family! He still faces an unjust felony charge.

While we’re relieved that David is out after three nights in detention, we demand the Trump regime drop the unjust charge against him & end the raids! seiu.co/endraids #FreeDavidEndRaids

📣 At TriBeCa, Local 700 members leafleted the premiere of Titan to spotlight anti-union behavior by its production co., Story Syndicate, who has stalled negotiations for almost 2 years.
Editors deserve fair pay & a fair contract. Respect the post crew behind the story. #Tribeca2025

Military style ICE raids in our communities. David Huerta was beaten and dragged away.

Because he saw them and stood up for justice. Because he’s not afraid.

Neither are we.

On MONDAY let's #FreeDavidHuerta, #FreeThemAll

In defiance of the Supreme Court & without any evidence, the White House claims that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a “terrorist,” who was “sent to the right place.”

This is a blatant LIE. He is innocent.

He cannot be allowed to rot in an El Salvadorian jail. He must be brought home.

If Republicans want to talk about censorship, let’s start with the fact that Trump ordered ICE agents to kidnap and detain Mahmoud Khalil & Rumeysa Ozturk for exercising free speech.

The hypocrisy is astounding.

This week, my Somerville constituent Rümeysa Öztürk was abducted in broad daylight by DHS officials and sent to Louisiana to be locked in a detention center. She has not been charged with any crime.

Rümeysa Öztürk was kidnapped because she expressed an opinion that Donald Trump doesn't like.

We're demanding that she be released, her visa restored, and her rights to due process & free speech respected.

Last night President Trump issued an unlawful Executive Order purporting to strip nearly two-thirds of the federal workforce of their collective bargaining rights. This illegal attack on roughly 700,000 federal workers and their unions is an assault on the entire labor movement and all American workers.
It's not surprising that the billionaires in the Trump Administration hate unions. Unions are a bulwark against tyranny, both in the
workplace and in civil society.

And we know that these occurrences won’t stop with federal unions—the anti-union zealots in the Administration want every worker in America weak, isolated, disposable and at the mercy of their boss.

The WGAE stands ready to join with our sibling unions and the broader labor movement to resist this attack on working people. We must stand together.

Stripping collective bargaining and union rights from workers across the federal government is the very definition of union busting — and a blatant attempt to silence us.

We will fight this outrageous attack on our members with every fiber of our collective being.

There's a lot about DEI that is pro-corporate and super dumb, but people who have worked up a lifetime of fantasies about classes coming together to fight capital if we just don't talk about race and creating really big careers on those fantasies who just don't know what they are talking about? No.

Trump’s Attacks on DEI Get Approval From Some in the Left Wing Many Democrats and activists are rallying to defend diversity programs, but others say they distract from deeper efforts to address inequality.

i'll be blunt, if you are someone who is vocal about the ways that diversity efforts "divide the working class" but silent about the ways that *actual racism and discrimination* divide the working class, then i think you're just an opportunist
